Hey guys my client’s website (https://www.cmidaho.org) was purposefully built as a truly “full width” website… No sidebars, no widgets anywhere. Now that they’ve had us just build+launch version 2.0, however, there will be instances on an occasional, case-by-case basis only where we will want to display and use a sidebar, however. The first of such circumstances is on the newly created Events Calendar page (powered by The Event Calendar plugin by Modern Tribe). That plugin (we’re using the free version) does not generate or even use an actual WordPress page, however, so I am unable to manipulate it apart from writing code – a skill not in my wheelhouse and not in her budget.

How can I create a sidebar using the GeneratePress Premium theme, for which I have a license, for only this “page” which isn’t a page? Please advise.

    Hi there,

I’m not sure I fully understand. You aren’t able to use the GP sidebar on the events page? Can you link me to this page?

    Thanks!

Tom, here’s the URL to the Events Calendar page: https://www.cmidaho.org/events/.

This plugin, unlike WooCommerce or any other plugins that extend WP capabilities beyond text editing, does NOT create a page with embedded shortcodes when it’s installed. The page exists completely outside the WP ecosystem, so there IS no physical page in the list of Pages in the WP Dashboard I can manipulate to build out the page design the way I want.

I need a sidebar on this page ONLY which contains a widget to show Featured Events and other upcoming events the client will be selling tickets to.

Have you tried using our Layout Element?: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/layout-element-overview/

You should be able to set the sidebar layout, and then choose the Events Archive in your Display Rules.

    Let me know 🙂
