How do I change the fonts in footer and wigets

I saw this post asking the same question:
it refers to going to typography / widgets. However when I go to typography widgets and change the font it doesn't apply any changes.
Additionally if I go to typography / footer and change the font, no changes are made.
What am I missing?
nvm it was changing but the fonts were too similar. WOW. Sorry for this post.
