How can visitors subscribe to my site?

I am looking for a simple way for me to make it easy for visitors to my site to subscribe to it. I know I can add this through Jetpack, but see that GP does not recommend this. Do you have a recommended plug-in for this, or some other way?

There should be lots of decent options for subscriptions like Ninja Forms, Contact Forms, HappyForms etc.
