Viewing posts 1–12 of 12

Hi,

I want to display recent posts (of one category) on the homepage and would prefer to do it without adding an additional plugin.
The "Latest posts' block in Gutenberg actually resolves that however, the featured images are not showing. I've turned them off on the regular archives, posts, and pages - will not be pulled here either?

Can I just add a HP widget area that'd resolve everything?

Hi there,

changing the themes featured images should not affect the Latest Posts block.
By default the Latest Posts block doesn't show featured images, its an option in the Blocks settings - have you enabled this ?

Yes, I enabled the featured images in the blocks but they're not showing on the HP.

Any chance you can link us to the site in question?

You can use the private information field.

Let me know :)

Sure

This is what i see:

Only the first post is missing the image and that is because the image cannot be found ( 404 error ).

Hi, yes, the issue was with the images on our side.
Is it still possible to create a widget area on the homepage?

Whats the purpose of the Widget Area on the home page ? And where would it be placed.

Hi David,

These Gutenberg blocks are not solving the purpose. The widget area makes it really easy to place some elements of your choice on the HP. Thanks

Widget areas can't exist within the Content of the post/page. They can only exist around them, so unless you want to build an entire page out of widgets they are fairly limited as to where they can be added.

What widgets are you trying to use ? As most widget plugins also provide shortcodes to add them inside the content.

Our previous theme had a HP widget area - so the entire HP was built with widgets in the main content area.
Anyway, we'll probably do it the other way. Thank you

No problems - glad to be of help
