    Hi

I am really stuck and I am not sure where to find the information.

I would like to create a header slider for my home page at http://www.vibrantyogini.com to feature:
    – advert for my e-book with a button to the sales page
    – advert for yoga classes with a button to the booking page
    – another advert with call to action button

I am not sure where to start. I assume I have to create the advert images, upload them somewhere then add the button, but I need to know the basic steps to get me on my way.

The slider will replace the current header which is too small anyway!

    Hi there,

First you will need to create a slider.

There should be quite a few slider plugins out there. My personal preference is Smart Slider 3.

Let me know once the slider is created and you have a shortcode ready to insert 🙂

Hi thank you for the recommendation. I have downloaded the plugin and have created a couple of slides. I have the shortcode. Where shall I put it?

    Hi there,

you can use GP Elements > Hooks:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/hooks-element-overview/

Add your shortcode to the content field.

Select the header hook – check disable site header and execute shortcodes. The Slider will then replace the header.

Then on display rules set where you want it to be displayed.

Just for housekeeping you can then remove the image you have set in the Customiser > Identity.
