GP + Page Builders

The reason I am here looking at GP is that I believe I have a theme that is chewing up resources. I currently use Factory by CommerceGurus with Page Builder.
My main question is this: What is the relationship between page builders (WP Bakery, Elementor, Beaver Builder) and speed? Do they slow down my site? Or is it more the theme that is slowing down the site?
I really like the idea of a clean GP coded site, but I could really use the Page Builder plugin to help me with the page formatting of my site.
What do you know?
I will note that with the Factory theme, about 10 additional plugins were required to run the theme!!!

Page Builders will definitely add resources (size + http requests) to your website. However, it depends on what kind of content you're adding to your site.
The best thing you can do is create the page and run some speed tests on it.
The theme itself is built to be as light as it can, so speed/size depends more on the plugins and content you decide to add to it.
