Google's New Recommendation
6 replies · Started by Swadhin on August 3, 2018
Hi There,
I see recently Google recommends both published date and modified date in blog posts' structured data.
I highly recommend you to read this article on it (it's a super short one, so please do).
Now, can you please help me if GP (and specifically my blog using GP (linked below)) is compliant with this or I need to do something else?
Best,
-Swadhin
Hi there,
GP does this by default. You can test the structured data of one of your updated posts: https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool
If you'd like to show your updated date to humans as well, you can do this: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/show-the-updated-post-date/
Let me know if this helps or not :)
Thanks a ton Tom. I should've checked that in the structured data myself. Silly me!!
Thanks,
-Swadhin
No problem :)
I hope it's ok to ask within this thread since it's the same category of question:
I've just used Google's testing tool and discovered that my "updated" and "published" time is the same on all articles. This shouldn't be the case, right?
Where did I do something wrong here?
Thanks,
Eddie
There shouldn't be any issues with that at all, but I'll take a look at the code to make sure everything is working properly :)
Tom, one never knows in what Google takes offence ;). So, I appreciate that you take a look.
Thanks,
Eddie
