Generate Press goes to hell if elementor interupted?

Updating my site from demo to live caused my elementor subscription to cancel and I had to disable/re-enable it. After doing that, I go back to my website to see most of it broken, and GeneratePress reverted to all basic settings. Example, the footer was back to the free template footer (MADE WITH LOVE BY HURR DURR) and all premium features disappeared. No biggie if it was temporary but I have to now go back and fix all of them manually it seems. Why did this happen so I can understand and avoid in the future?
All the settings - 100% screwed, probably around 5 hours of work ahead fixing this.
