Footer Image

Hi there,
Im trying to create a "sticky" image that attaches to the top of the Footer , that full width of the containter. Like the attached.
I have used a hook, every location I choose it doesnt look right. When I put it in "after content" or "after main content", it doesnt stick to the bottom, its also above the blog comments.
I would ideally want it within the footer hook, but it never looks right, its always between the containter and footer, I just want it to sit in the footer, but at the top of the footer.
I have stuck it on "before footer content", to show you what I mean.

Not quite sure if I understand.
So what is not correct currently? The gap between the image and the footer?

Sorry, I didnt explain myself very well.
I either want it attached to the top of the footer, or at the very bottom of the content.
When attached the the footer, the site background image is visible. When I attached to the bottom of the main content container, it works fine, but when on a post page, the comments come after it. I would prefer it just attacged to the very top of the footer, but with the white of the page and not the background image.
Ive attached a screenshit what I want to acheive.
I think the best solution would be adding that image as the footer area background image through the customizer.
