Hello
Since the update to WordPress 5.9, the option for setting a featured image and selecting categories have disappeared in the gutemberg editor from Posts > Add New.
Do you know what is happening?
Thanks
Hi there,
you should first check for plugin conflicts by temporarily disabling all plugins - one of them may be causing a problem.
Hi, i just disabled all plugins and the problem persists
I found this article but I can't understand how to proceed https://wordpress.org/support/topic/missing-the-upload-featured-image-option-after-update-the-wp-5-9/
Does the same issue occur when you use a Twenty series WP theme?
Hi Leo, how can I temporally change the theme and then roll back to my current set-up (with all the customizations) without breaking anything?
After deactivating plugins my website almost broke and got a little heart attack...
Hi Ismael,
Hi Leo, how can I temporally change the theme and then roll back to my current set-up (with all the customizations) without breaking anything?
If you're unsure, try setting up a staging site. (clone site of your current site)
This way, the main site is unaffected if you've managed to break the staging(clone) site.
Although, 99% of the time, re-activating disabled plugins and changing the enabled theme back to GeneratePress puts everything back to normal since the settings are saved on the database. These settings are dormant if the plugins are deactivated but they're still there. :)
Hi, this is very strange, but the missing features appear correctly when I access through my phone. Maybe is be a bug appeared with the installation of WP 5.9? More people is experiencing this: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/missing-the-upload-featured-image-option-after-update-the-wp-5-9/page/2/
Have you already tried temporarily switching the theme to a default WP theme and disabling all plugins like Leo mentioned?
This suggestion is a standard debugging procedure to determine if there's any conflict/issue caused by plugins/themes.
Note: While I can also see some people having this issue, the majority did not encounter this so it's likely isolated to a specific configuration/setting/combination of plugins/child theme.
