I would like you to implement an ability to restore/keep widget position when deactivating/reactivating GP.
Widgets are often scatter around to wrong position when deactivating/reactivating the theme.
I know this is normal behavior but when I have a lot of widgets on the site, It will be huge pain.

    Hi there,

Widgets are actually handled by WordPress itself.

That being said, the position should restore when you deactivate and activate as far as I understand:

This is what I did to test:

Let me know if I’m missing something πŸ™‚

    Actually it’s not.
But I think it depends what theme you choose when deactivating GP.

Maybe the other themes are doing something to mess up the order?

I tested a few widget areas using the default twenty series themes and they all worked like my short clip above.

I think it may be those theme that have same sidebar name or something.
I saw this situation on multiple themes.
    Try Astra.

    Thanks for the suggestion!

We will take a closer look if more people bring up this issue.

For now you can try backing up the website and restore if you change your mind again. Generally users don’t switch back and forth very often.

    Thanks again πŸ™‚
