Bill
Hello,
Since upgrading to Gutenberg, new post excerpts seemed to stop working on the blog page (I just added one). I inserted a Read more tag and it works that way but the posts created before Gutenberg work fine.
Thanks!

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
I’m unable to duplicate this and haven’t had this issue reported.
Can you remove the read more tag so I can try to locate the issue?
Let me know ๐

Sure! I just removed the tag. It is the latest blog and the excerpt disappeared once I removed the tag.

StaffCustomer SupportCan you make sure there is nothing added in the excerpt meta box?
https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/add-excerpts-to-your-pages-in-wordpress/Make sure there is no space or anything.

StaffCustomer SupportThere isn’t space like this?
https://www.screencast.com/t/YDY8onZG1One other user had the issue and this was the problem.
That’s the only reason I can think of.

Thanks!

StaffCustomer SupportSo looks like it’s something specific to that post.
Were you using any sort of third-party block plugin in there?
I see this error when editing the post:
https://www.screencast.com/t/vzrKEQfaDI also created a test post and the excerpt is working correctly:
https://www.screencast.com/t/c7dpEYumgSpI left it in there so you can check.

Hmmmm…strange. I don’t use a 3rd party block plugin. I just converted to HTML and all worked.
Thank you for looking at this.March 27, 2019 at 9:45 am #851642David

Ok, I see it added the string
<!– /wp:tadv/classic-paragraph –>
Once I removed it, all worked perfectly.
