duplicator plugin

Hi,
I've had a ticket in to the duplicator techs today but they may be off for the weekend. Maybe someone here knows the answer.
I ran through the steps to move an install from one URL to another on the same server.
I didn't put the zip and installer file in the root because it had files there from the original wordpress...I put it in /DD
when I go to login at the /DD/wp-login it just goes in an endless loop.
Should I have put the zip and installer in the root after removing the former wp files?
the only other thing I can think of is the zip file was backed up at a site that was not https: and this new file has the ssl intalled already.

Hi I understand. I think they are off for the weekend. I need to just wipe the whole thing and start off with putting the installer and zip file in the root folder of the site in a new wordpress install.
