Dual Slideout Menus, is it possible?
3 replies · Started by Matthew on August 15, 2021
Trying to create a menu solution similar to the Slideout theme but with dual slideout menus. Ideally the primary menu should be absolute positioned on the left side and the secondary on the right. Because of the opposing sides, both menus would slideout in opposite directions. (So the animation would definitely need to be customized as well.) And on small devices the two menus would combine into a single mobile menu.
An example is visible here: https://francegallery.me/
I am not certain the best tactic to go about this. Perhaps start with the Slideout theme and use Elements to create the secondary menu on the right side? Or maybe custom design both menus from scratch and incorporate them directly within the theme?
Is a design such as this even achievable without 'bending over backwards' so to speak? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much :)
Hi Matthew,
It should be possible to pull off something similar but not by using the same script GP Premium uses as there can be script / element conflict.
It's going to be tricky to do as you'll have to hook in another "slideout" menu from another source (like a plugin) that uses a completely different set of selectors to avoid script conflict between the 2 slideout menus.
You may have to consider hiring a custom developer for this. It's a bit complex front-end work. :D
Thanks for the quick reply Elvin!
No problem. :)
