it is normal for this code to appear <! DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "- // W3C // DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional // EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd">

Hi there,

all HTML web pages are stary with the <!DOCTYPE html> tag so inform the browser it is a HTML Document.

I am not seeing the extra markup you have expressed above.

thats odd - its not something that GP adds - maybe another plugin is adding that in?
