Hi there,
Pretty hard to diagnose a site without a link to it, however, using background images like this can be complicated and can cause some issues - you'll most likely just have to tweak the positioning and background size until you find an ideal set up.

Are there ideal background sizes for GP
I am concerned about getting too heavy

2x2 would definitely be faster - it is currently pretty heavy with the full background images.
