Different sidebars for different languages

Hi Tom,
In the first place, great theme! Keep up the good work!
Here’s the deal: my website is available in 3 languages. Obviously, I would like to use a different sidebar for each language. I have tried the plugins you recommend, and nothing works. To be more exact, I tried “custom sidebars” and “Content Aware Sidebars”. I changed the conditions, tried everything and nothing works. The “Content Aware Sidebars” even lets me select language as a condition, which is great, but in the end, the sidebars won’t show up.
The sidebar widget from GeneratePress works fine (for the main language). Only the 2 that I tried to create for the translated versions (with the plugins) won’t show up. There’s an empty white space where the sidebar should be. BTW, the plugin I use manage translated versions of my website is Polylang.
Is there a way to fix this? The ability to create custom sidebars in the theme would be great. Maybe in the future you will consider that? But for now, I would really appreciate a solution.
Thanks and regards,
Ricardo
Hey Ricardo,
Have you checked with Content Aware Sidebars support as to why it's not working? I would think that plugin would be your best bet.
Conditional sidebars are something we've looked into for our Elements module. It could definitely happen.
Hello again,
Thanks for your reply. I didn't check with them because different sidebar plugins didn't work with GeneratePress. So I assumed the issue was on GeneratePress side. But I will give that a try and contact them.
Glad to know that conditional sidebars are a possibility for the future.
Thanks again and regards,
Ricardo
GeneratePress doesn't do anything special when it comes to sidebars - it's all 100% core WordPress functionality, which means those plugins should work fine.
Understood. Thanks Tom.
Cheers,
Ricardo
No problem - let me know :)
