Custom layout in blog post stops excerpt and read more button showing.

I'm creating a custom layout on a blog post but if I nest a container in another the post excerpt on the latest post widget stops working and the standard read more button doesn't appear. Their working fine on unmodified layouts.
I'm not using the the optional excerpt section on the sidebar and i've checked that it's empty.
Any suggestions on getting them working with the modified layout?
Hi there,
the WP excerpt function doesn't parse content that is nested inside other blocks - whether that be a GB Container Block or a core Group block etc.
Until WP resolve that the simplest solution is to use the manual excerpt.
