Custom Image for background

So I have uploaded a custom image for my background image (im using split theme), but i'd like it to be a bit transparent?
is there a way of doing this?
I have tried to do it locally on my laptop and then upload it, but it reduces the image quality.
I thought maybe background overlay might work but it only just turns the background into the colour specified without any picture.
Hope that makes sense. Any suggestions welcome.
Hi there,
if you mean the background image in the Header Element, then edit the Element. Check the Background Overlay box. Then in your background color make it transparent by moving the second slider.
