Hi, Thanks for a great theme!

I want to disable the Generatepress comment styling and use an elementor template to style it. I am ok with the wordpress comment system. I only need to change the section background and the typography. I would also like to put the comment form above the posted comments, if that is possible, as well as remove the website field. I have tried various plugins and can’t seem to figure out how to make this happen. Comments don’t seem to behave like other widgets. Can you help?

The comments should look like the contact page, below the page and post content.

    thanks!

    Hi there,

to the best of my knowledge the Elementor Comments widget is for using in their Theme Templates. And it uses the standard WordPress Comments form. To do this with GP would require a Child Theme and for you to customize the comments.php form. Luckily this user provided the same solution here for re-ordering the form and the comments list:

Once you have that in place we can probably help with styling it using CSS

    Hi David,

Thanks for the quick reply. I made the child theme, and investigated it enough to know that what I really want to do is disable the comments display from Generatepress and use an Elementor template and dynamic post widget for the comments. Can you tell me how to hide the comment form and comments in the theme without turning them off in wordpress?

    thank you,
    Donna

I believe Elementor relies on the same template that GP uses for the Comments. So disabling that template part would probably break the elementor one.

To use the comments widget in Elementor you would need to create a Single Post Template using the Element Theme Builder, this would ( should ) replace the GP template so only the one comments form will be displayed.
