Current year using block element for Footer

HI there.
I used {{current_year}} for Element > Block site footer but it only renders the snippet, not the actual year.

Do I need to do anything else to get the {{current_year}} to render the actual year in site footer using Element > Block > Site Footer/
Never mind user error!
I had the element set to hook, not Site Footer.
