Alan
Hi
I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong but for some reason today when I try to add a re-useable block to a page and I click on the button to convert it to a regular block nothing happens. Its been fine for the last couple of weeks. I’m on wordpress 5.8. I tried turning off litespeed cache but it made no difference. Not sure what’s going on.
Thanks,
Alan

I also cleared all of my history files from Microsoft edge last night. Not sure if that has affected anything.

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
are you using any Block related plugins? Or other plugins that add features to the Editor. As in the past, a plugin conflict has been the most likely cause.

Hi David
The only block plugins are GenerateBlocks and GenerateBlocks Pro. Strangely enough anything that I save as a re-useable block tonight can then be placed on another page and converted to regular blocks ok. Any other re-useable blocks that were created prior to today can not be converted to regular blocks.

StaffCustomer SupportDo any of the older blocks contain reusable blocks inside other reusable blocks ?
August 11, 2021 at 5:07 am #1891832Alan
Not that I can think of. All of my re-useable blocks were made with the last month.

Actually there would be a few of the blocks that would have one reusable block inside another. Some of them I created a reusable button and then I put that inside an info box and saved the box as a reusable block.
The block that I was trying to convert to a regular block earlier today didn’t have another reusable block inside it.

StaffCustomer SupportThat could be the issue.
There is a known bug that will be patched in the next release of GenerateBlocks, that throws a bit of a fit if there are reusable blocks inside other reusable blocks. It never used to cause this kind of problem though. If you could try editing a reusable nested block, and convert to a regular block and let me know if the issue goes away.August 11, 2021 at 5:22 am #1891851Alan
When I added the reusable block ( button) inside the info box, I converted it to a regular block before I saved the info box as a reusable block. So really there are no reusable blocks inside another reusable block

Ok
I will check all of the reusable blocks tomorrow and see if I’ve got any like thatAugust 11, 2021 at 7:04 am #1891966David
StaffCustomer Supporthmmm… odd one. I seen a few other WP users having similar issues on other forums. I am personally not a fan of the reusable blocks, for every issue they fixed in the latest updates seemed to have been offset by other problems ( like the terrible UI ).
Let us know how you get on.

I went through all of the re-useable blocks this morning and I couldn’t find a single one that had one re-useable block inside another. I even edited each one by adjusting the container spacing small amount and resaved each one but it didn’t make any difference. I still cant convert any blocks (built prior to 2 days ago) to regular blocks. Any blocks that I save as a re-useable blocks today can be converted to regular blocks.
The only thing I did 2 days ago was empty all of my browser history including cookies.

This is probably not related but it happened about the same time. I noticed a couple of days ago if I went to edit the colour of an icon on a page , when I opened up the colour palette the whole right hand settings area shakes really fast. To fix it I had to take the icon out, change the icon colour and then reinsert the icon. It’s only happened a few times.

StaffCustomer SupportCan you Right Click and Inspect the page to open the developers console, and check the console for errors. And then try converting a ( broken ) regular block it ‘should’ generate some error codes. Can you share a screenshot of that ?

Sorry David.
I must be doing this wrong because I can’t get any error codes and I still can’t convert the old reusable blocks to regular blocks.
I placed an old reusable block on a blank page. I tried to convert it but it wouldn’t convert. I saved the page an the viewed it online. I right clicked on the reusable blocks and clicked the console tab but there are no error codes.
What am I doing wrong?
