Brian
My site, listed below, was running built with DIVI builder and I changed to GP premium and Beaver Builder.
All my pages have a right column that is showing a search bar and beneath that my blog history. I do not want these but can’t find any widgets that create these. This might be left over code from DIVI builder but I can’t find it. My blog (post) page looks as expected.Do you have any hints to help me get through this? Once I get back to where I was I want to experiment with parallax.
Thanks,

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
those are widgets added to the Right Sidebar. Do you wish to remove the right sidebar entirely? If so you can do this in the Customizer > Layout > Sidebars.

I want a right side bar but not those widgets. If I go to ‘appearance’– widgets the only two widgets that show up are my mailchimp and recent posts. The search widget and blog archive do not show up and those are the ones I want to get rid of. I wonder if DIVI inserted code that GP doesn’t recognize? I’ll try deleting the right side bar and then adding it back.

StaffCustomer SupportThe search and archive widgets are only there when a sidebar layout is selected but no widgets are added in there – they should disappear once you have your own widgets added.
Can you guide me to the page in question? I took a look of the site and don’t see a sidebar.
Let me know π

Hi Leo,
In the interim time I created an element called Layout. I selected content/ no sidebars with the exclusion of the blog page. This seemed to work. Now I’m trying to make my site header full-width, but can’t seem to do that though the navigation bar and page content are full width.

StaffCustomer SupportYou shouldn’t need to do that.
Can you make the problem show again so I can see what’s going on?

Okay, I set the layout element to content & sidebars. All pages now show archive and search window in sidebar except blog page that shows recent blogs and mailchimp subscriber box. These last two items are the only widgets that show up in Appearance–>widgets. I don’t know where archive & search box came from?
Thanks for your help!

StaffCustomer SupportThat’s very weird. Can you do me a favor and go through the following test:
– Remove the Layout Element you added for sidebar display
– Set Sidebar Layout in the customizer to Content/Sidebar:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/sidebar-layout/
– Disable all plugins except GP Premium.Let me know π

Okay, I disabled ALL plugins except GP. I even disabled Beaver Builder. Now all pages display ‘Recent Posts’ in the right sidebar.
Also, the site header, navigation bar and footer are full-width but page and post content are not full-width.

StaffCustomer SupportAnd recent post widget is not added in the right sidebar widget area?
If so any server cache or custom functions added?
December 27, 2018 at 12:27 pm #766985Brian
Ah! recent posts was in the widget selection. Now all plugins except GP are deactivated and there are no widgets. ALL pages have a right sidebar that is displaying a search window and blog archives.i.e., ALL pages have the same sidebar, … is this normal for having no widgets?

StaffCustomer SupportOK we are getting there.
Again the search and archive widgets are only there when a sidebar layout is selected but no widgets are added in there β they should disappear once you have your own widgets added.
Can you try that?

I think I already confirmed that when I had just the ‘recent posts’ widget activated. Then the search window and archive were gone on all pages.
Thanks again for your help,
Brian
