Content that overlaps Block - Page Hero is not visible in block editor

I have a Block Page Hero on my home page that lies under the page content. To accomplish this, I set the top margin of the first block on the page to -500. But when I go to edit the page, I can't see the first container because it rides up above the top of the editor screen.

This makes me wonder whether I am going about this in the best way. Could you take a look?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,

My recommendation would be to add the block element page hero directly into the home page content.

So basically everything on the home page except for the header/footer can be edited in the home page content.

Let me know if this makes sense.

Thanks for your quick response.

I tried that, by adding a container at the top of the home page with the hero as background, but found I was unable to get the page hero to go all the way across the page--there was a small margin at each edge. Where should I look to eliminate that?

More generally, when should someone use a page hero element instead of what you suggest?

I'll need to see the issue to be able to determine the cause.

If the display rule is only for a single page (eg front page) then it should go directly into the page content.

But if the page hero is to be used in all posts/pages then that's when an element would be useful.

Thanks so much, Leo. I know this must seem painfully obvious, but I had not grasped the point till you made it explicit.

Dan

No problem!

So have you resolved the issue?
