Content Padding

Hi,
Do I need to set left and right content padding using custom css? If I set the content layout to be 'contained', then adjust the default left and right values of 40 under element spacing > content, text content still spans the full width of the container. I can set 60, 80, 100 - no extra padding is added.
I'm using sections to add page content.

If you're using Sections and have the container set to fluid, it will span the whole width regardless.
The section should however still respect the value you set for content padding.
If not, can you link me to a page?
I had sections themselves set to fluid, I see the padding correctly applied when I change that to contained.
