Content bar above Page/Post title

Looking for a way to insert content right above the Page or Post title. The immediate case is to categorize selected pages by posting a tagline. For example, all pages in Group A would have "Group A" appear above the page title in smaller type.
The text could be HTML, or a category link. I thought of using a hook but that seems complicated. Any suggestions on the best approach?
Hi there,
Hooks are the way to go and easiest method. This will become super simple when the GP Premium 1.7 is released (looking like the beginning of next week( as it gives access to all hooks and has display rules.
