    Hi,

I am using the Tasty theme.

I’m having issues trying to link the category in the top menu to a post.

    Say for example:

For the top menu I have the categories:

    Home A B C

I have a post on the home page that I want to link to category A. But when I click on the post it opens but doesnt take me to category A. When I click on the A menu category, the post doesnt display.

In wordpress I have set up the categories and assigned the post to the category A. The category shows at the bottom of the page as A…when I click on this it does take me to the A page with the post displayed.

I have attached my website so you can visually see.

    Many thanks

I’m thinking should I replace the menu page titles with category titles?

To add a category to your menu, you’ll need to go to “Appearance > Menus” and open the “Categories” module on the left.

There you’ll see your categories listed, and you’ll be able to add them to the menu.

Let me know if that helps or not πŸ™‚

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

Say I have a Menu top bar consisting of:

HOME ABOUT CARS BIKES BOATS CONTACT

On the home page I have some blog articles. They are an excerpt with a thumbnail image.

When someone clicks on the blog article about CARS it should go to the CAR page, where all the CAR blog thumbnail excerpts are. This should be the same for BIKES and BOATS.

But when I click on the page CAR from the Menu…it is empty. Only when I click on the category CAR below the thumbnail on the front page, it then goes to the CAR Menu page.

    ***A Workaround***

I have removed the “pages” and instead have the categories in the menu bar at the top of the website.

I had to go to settings>reading> a static page and the posts page CARS

It worked fine for 1 post now that I added another post for a BIKES category, it shows up under CARS and there is also no READ MORE button πŸ™

When someone clicks on the blog article about CARS it should go to the CAR page

Not quite sure if I understand. When someone clicks a blog article, it should go to the single post page.

Is everything working now? If not can you guide me to the specific page I should be looking at?

    Let me know πŸ™‚

    Hi,

Thank you so much for the reply. I am really struggling with this.

You are correct…when someone clicks on the post on the homepage, it should go to the relevant page.

However when I click on the page title in the menu…the page only shows the title of the page and not the post.

So what I am trying on a staging site is to have the menu pages as menu categories. This does work however there is alot of padding between the title of the category and the start of the blog post. I have tried to play with the heading h1 font size etc but it doesnt look quite right…as it affects all the h1 titles.

The URL looks different when I use catergories, before it was: sitetitle/cars now it is: sitetitle/category/cars

Also the read more button is missing from the post

I’m still not quite sure what you mean.

I don’t see Cars in the site you linked.

Perhaps you provide the wrong link?
