Zoe
Hi all,
Just wondering actually if anyone had any suggestions on plugins that might work well for what I’m trying to do. Sorry if it makes no sense, I’m not overly technically saavy.
My website includes reviews of items, for which I create a new page for each (as opposed to my blog posts). Now that I’m writing more and more reviews, I’m trying to find a way to create a page that allows users to search and/or filter the available reviews, and see snapshots of them/snippets of them. So basically, I’m hoping to link one page (called ‘reviews’) that contains a filter function allowing users to select say ‘mesh heads’ and see all reviews categorised as mesh heads.
I hope that makes some kind of rambling sense….
Any suggestions welcome, thank you for your time.

Take a look at Justified Image Grid
I use it for my photo galleries but I am sure it can also create grids of pages. As you will see on my website you can have filters for various categories. Worth a look maybe.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperYou’ll most likely need to find a plugin like the one Tony pointed out.
Instead of using pages, you should have a custom post type specifically for reviews.
For example:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-review/Another option is creating a category for reviews in your blog, then use a plugin like this:
https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/display-posts-shortcode/Let me know if you need more info π

Did you ever find any time to work on that plugin for displaying posts by shortcode?.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperIt’s coming, just need to tighten some things up in old versions of IE (ugh) and get the website complete.

It’s still very young, so lots of improvements and additions to come π

Hi Zoe
I am a little late to the part but I use the following plugin to do want you want to do:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/intelliwidget-per-page-featured-posts-and-menus/
You can use this widget to display lists of specific pages or posts in your sidebar or footer widgets.
However on the bottom left of each page or post there is also a intelliwidget meta box. You can format the metabox to select whatever pages or post you want to display and then in the content window for that page you insert the following shortcode:
[intelliwidget section=1]
Excepts for each of your selected pages will then be displayed on that page. You can also style the look of the excepts (thumbnails etc) with the intelliwidget settings.
Good luck
Max
