changing social icons in wordsmith
11 replies · Started by Cynthia on August 16, 2021
So I used wordsmith from the site library. I have tried to change the social icons by going to customize-widgets-top bar. Then when I click on the lightweight social icons it opens the box and shows the choices. However when I click the scroll on the right to see all of the choices it changes back to the lightweight social icons box. Am I supposed to be changing them somewhere else? If no, how do I get the ability to scroll down and change them? Thanks
Hi Cynthia,
The social icons can be changed at appearance > widgets > top bar.
Not sure what's the issue you ran into, I recorded a short clip to show you how to change them.

Let me know if you can't do the same :)
When I go to appearance>widgets my screen looks nothing like yours. The only thing on my page is at the top it says To enable updates and support for Tasty Pins, enter a valid license key
Otherwise there is nothing on the page :/ HELP please:)
Can you share the credential to your site? We can have a look at the backend.
You can use the private info field. :)
Yes
I was able to change the social icons on the bottom of my page-just not the ones at the top.
It seems there's another set of username/passwords required before the access to WP-admin page, I wasn't able to log in.
But looks like you've sorted it out?
Let me know if you need further assistance :)
I still haven't figured out how to change the ones at the top as I am still not able to access the widget page. Will give you the other credentials, thanks.
After updating to WP 5.8, the "old widgets" changed to the new block widgets.
But it should at least show the block widgets, not a blank page.
Can you try to disable all plugins to see if it works?
If it does, try to activate them one by one to see which one is causing the issue.
Let me know :)
If I disable all the plugins will it delete things on my page. For example I think my privacy policy and such was put on with a header footer plug in. If I inactivate each plug in will I lose all the thiings that were created with the plug in or they come back once you activate it? Sorry I'm totally inexperienced with all of this.
So actually I just found this on my wp homepage: Custom Sidebars plugin is NOT compatible with the new widgets edit screen (powered by Gutenberg).
Install the official Classic Widgets plugin if you want to continue using it.
So the custom sidebars is a plugin I would not need for generatepress-correct? If this is correct I will just try that plug in first. Thanks :)
So deleting the Custom Sidebars plug in fixed it-yay! Now I will go back and follow your video from above. Thank you!
Glad you found out what's causing the issue :)
Just let me know if you need further assistance!
