Changing background on Branded theme

Hello,
I installed the branded theme with all the demo content but anytime i go to the beaverbuilder, background overlay and i select background overlay: NONE, i publish the change and when i see the website, still with the default overlay it comes with.
If i go back to the buiverbuilder, i can indeed see is selected to "none" but i have to choose another option and put none again to see the change on the builder. Again, if i save it one more time, still with the default it comes with.
Cache is off and it seems i cannot even change the gradient colors, always goes back to the same color.

Branded was built before BB added gradient backgrounds / overlays so the site still uses CSS which is held in Customizer > Additional CSS. It's all commented and that particular rule is under:
/* Adjust your colours below to change the gradient to match your could scheme */
