Changes made in customizer

Heya Tom and everyone, long time no ask! Hope all's well!
This is not a GP-theme-exclusive topic, but here goes: Using a child theme, where exactly does the customizer store the values given through it?
In the child theme's folder there are the required functions.php and style.css files, but they remain unaltered even after rigorous tweaking with both the customizer UI and writing my own CSS (with Simple CSS).
Where be the changes stored, arrr?

Hi Jaakko,
All settings are stored in your database.
The functions server as defaults for when no settings are saved.

nope, that's it. Oh yeah, I can see them now in wp_options.
