Changes After Updates

Hey Tom,
Hope you're having a great weekend so far. I do a lot of custom coding (CSS) on GP. I was wondering if those changes will be lost after both theme and WP updates. If so, what are the elements/parts that will suffer? Is there a list or something? Where can I find more about it?
Thanks,
Nat
Hi there,
If you've done your custom CSS in a child theme or using our Simple CSS plugin, then you're 100% safe to update.
However, if you've made your changes to the core theme files, those changes will be lost as all core files are replaced when updates happen.
Yeah, all in the Simple CSS. Thanks!
You're welcome :)
Just so I'm clear, since I'm using Forefront I can update GeneratePress and none of my changes will be lost? But if I update both Forefront and GP then all changes are gone?
I have made all of my custom CSS changes into Forefront.
If you've added custom CSS to the forefront theme, updating it will lose those changes.
Instead, I suggest using our Simple CSS plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-css/
That way you can update your themes without the risk of losing custom CSS.
