Category Widget not showing in alphabetical order

Hi Tom,

I have created a website (using GP premium) with a private blog.

all blog posts are made private and I have installed 'WP JV Post Reading Groups'
to allows subscribers to view the posts when logged in.

The categories widget in the left sidebar displays all categories but NOT in alphabetical order.

Is it because the blogs posts are private that they lose their order? Can you think of a way to make them alphabetical?? (I have tried for hours to find the answer with no joy)

Strange, I'm not sure how the WP widget handles this by default.

I wonder if ordering them with a plugin like this would help?: https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/taxonomy-terms-order/

Hi Tom,

unfortunately that plugin does not work. I have tried de-activating all plugs, deleting all custom css and also temporarily making posts public but the categories still do not show in alphabetical order.

Possibly they are showing in the order in which they were created.

I tested 2 other GP websites adding category widget to sidebars and they do show in alpha' order.

if it's not a GP thing I will try the WP forum

The category widget is a core WP widget, so you might have better luck in the WP forum.
