category post change

Hi guys:
I had a post in the subcategory -drop-down (pop music). I just changed this category to a full menu item. (not sub under another similar category)
It appears that now the post of pop music comes up on BOTH THE pop music category and the Drop down related category. How would i remove it from the related category?
I checked the posts category and its checked for pop music. But now that its not a sub-category (dropdown) it shows up first under its parent category as well?

Hi there,
This is standard in WordPress. If a post is in a category (parent or child), it will show up within the archives.

Basically, first I had “ classical music cat. Under it in( dropdown)I had pop music.
Then... I slid the sub catogory ( pop music) to its own main catagory on MENUs.
Now .. if I hit menu Item “ classical music- my one post from “ pop music” shows up ahead of the 2nd post on classical.
In fact it should only be under “ pop” as now i made it a main category or its OWN category
But it shows under...classical AND Pop???

I figured it out- gosh darn-so simple. I Had to uncheck (the category that was put from “sub” to its own main category) no PARENT category!!
