Can't get menu dropdown arrows to work
9 replies · Started by Antti on August 9, 2019
Hi, working on a site, tried the combinations I can think of (primary navigation, off canvas panel...), but the arrows don't work.
Hover works fine, but method is now changed to "arrow click" for testing purposed.
Idean goal would be:
– hover on desktop
– arrow click on touch screen
Event listener "click" seems to be attached to arrow span, as it should, I guess...
Help appreciated – what additional info should I provide?

Hi there,
Usually the parent menu items are created like this:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-the-wordpress-menu-builder/#custom-link
Would that work for you?
Let me know :)
Thanks Leo for a quick response!
I already made one such link for test purposes, but that doesn't work either. The arrow is just somehow not reactive. I was hoping to find out if there was a clear reason and an easy fix, and I wouldn't have add any JS of my own to make them work.
Best,
Antti
Can't seem to find any obvious issues.
Can you try disabling all plugins except GP Premium to eliminate any conflicts first?
Let me know :)
Tried that too, no change. Sorry.
So the submenu doesn't show when hover or click is used?
Any chance you can keep all plugins disabled and me the dashboard access?
You can send the dashboard access using Account Issue here:
https://generatepress.com/contact/
Please include the following information:
– The URL of this topic.
– Login URL.
– Username and password.
Ok, did that.
– username etc. sent using Account Issue
– other plugins disabled
– hover works, arrow-click is the problem (when in touch or narrow screen)
Let me know if there's something else yon need.
Thanks!
Antti
I activated the parent theme temporarily and everything works as expected.
Can you test and confirm that?
If so then something in your child theme is the issue.
Leo, you are right. Then I'm the culprit, have to investigate. But good to know it's me, not you :-)
Sorry for your trouble, thanks for your time.

No problem :)
