Christine
Hello, I’m using GPP (Aspire theme) with Elementor Pro. I’m running into a few roadblocks:
1) I can’t edit the header image on any page other than the home page. I mainly want to change the background overlay. It only allows me to set the header image as a featured image and nothing else. How can I get to this section and edit it? It’s as if GPP is overriding Elementor. I’ve looked everywhere.
2) I also want to change the title on the header image to something other than the name of the page in the menu. For example, on the About page, I don’t want the title to pull through as “About”. I want to make it my own H1 title. How do I do that?
3) On the homepage, the blue edit boxes disappear whenever I hover over it. I’m sure that it’s because the menu navigation is overriding it on the top of it. How do I grab this section?
4) I’ve added a social icon to the menu, but I want to make it bigger. How do I do that?December 2, 2018 at 4:16 pm #746320Leo
StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
1) You can find them in Appearance > Elements:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/header-element-overview/2) Same as #1
3) Can you link me to the page in question? You can edit the original topic and use the private URL field.

Hello, I’ve edited the original request to include the URL.

Also, I’m really confused from the article you shared with me on how to accomplish point #2. I want the About page to say “About DNS Compliance” and the Services page to say “DNS Compliance Services” on the header image. But I want the menu to still only say “About” and “services”.

StaffCustomer Support2. Looks like you’ve done it? https://www.screencast.com/t/5bAYgIQAUn0l
3. For social icon size, give that menu item a custom class called
social-icon
, then add this CSS:.main-navigation .main-nav ul li.social-icon a { font-size: 18px; }
Adding CSS: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/adding-css/

Oh I’m sorry, I mean on the About and Services pages. The home page lets me edit it right in Elementor. The About and Services pages don’t.

StaffCustomer SupportHave you located the page hero in header element as I mentioned above?
You can remove the current content
{{post_title}}
and add whatever you like.December 4, 2018 at 10:58 am #748015Christine
Yes, but it when I change that element on the inner pages header, it becomes the same title for both the About and Services Pages. I want the About page to say “About DNS Compliance”, and the Services header to say “DNS Compliance Services”. When I try to exclude one of the pages, the entire header goes away on that page. I’m so sorry that I’m not explaining it well! You’ll see now on the site how they both say “About DNS Compliance”. But I want the Services page to say “DNS Compliance Services”.

StaffCustomer SupportAhh I got you 🙂
Custom field is what you are looking for: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/page-header-template-tags/#custom_field-name

I think I just may have to give this idea up. The problem is that I can’t get a different title (or custom field, or whatever) on each page! I only have one option: Inner headers. Anything I do to that changes ALL of the inner header pages. There is no place within Elements when editing the inner headers to add a custom field for each individual page.

StaffCustomer SupportCustom field is in each page and you have to enable it under screen options:
https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-disable-the-screen-options-button-in-wordpress/But honestly for your case though, I would just go with Elementor as the home page is using Elementor. Might be more consistent.
We have actually updated the Aspire template so that the home page is also using Elements.

I figured it out. All I had to do was change the page title, then change the navigation title in Appearance – Menus.

StaffCustomer SupportThat will work too. But custom field is likely the better option.
