can't delete CSS

Help! I couldn't make my site header full width so tried to add some custom CSS. Now the CSS is visible on my website and the header is still not full width. I tried going to Edit CSS but was able to delete what was shown. What am I doing wrong?

Shouldn't need CSS for that. Have you tried the customizer option?

Yes, I found the customize-container-header, it is working now. Also, in my layout element I had added the CSS snippet and it was showing up as text on the website. I deleted that also and have now gotten back to where I want.
