Cannot edit when i am in section mode

Hi Tom,
I have problem. When i set section to Yes in editing page. I cannot set widget from global set to some my value. And I have same problem when I set section again to Yes. I cannot edit and set in Appearence->Customize some value like background for my content or use separate section or add left column to content = use left column/content. Is it some way how can i use sections and use separete section or left column \ content? Thank you for helping.
