Hi,
Can I speed up my page by disabling modules?

I get render blocking and am trying to also remove unused javascript.
(I already use autoptimize, shortpixel and WP Super Cache)

My site has 19 posts and a couple of pages. I am planning to keep creating posts 100+

I currently have Blog, Colours, Disable Elements, Elements, Sections, spacing and typography.

I am not a web developer and I havent played with anything since I started about 8 months ago (although I seem to have Amazon and Google Tag Hooks that I dont remember doing!). I dont even know if I need these modules.

How can I tell if I am using these modules?
Is there any risk in turning the modules off and on?

Regards,
Rob

Hi there,

It is good practice to disable unused module - however, you should see minimal impact on the speed of your site.

There isn't a built-in indication to see which modules are used unfortunately.

Elements module is easy to identify - see if there is anything listed under Appearance > Elements.

My question is similar.
I have finished the design of my site.
Should I now disable generatepress modules used to design the site to speed up the site?
Do I miss any element of site design if I disable generatepress modules used to design the site?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

you can disable any Modules that you don't use - for example the Backgrounds module will Customizer options to add Backgrounds to the theme elements. If you haven't used that then you don't need the module.

However very few Modules add any code to the front end so disabling them may not make any performance differences.
