[Support request] Build Footer/Widget thing like ahrefs blog

Hi

On my blog https://pop64.com/ I would love to build something similar like the “Best of” Section on https://ahrefs.com/blog/
A handmade list with some links between content and footer, only visible on the startpage.

So far I have no idea how to do that (beside the display rule for “only on the startpage”).
Whats the best approach?

Sectionss on the startpage and wp show posts for blogposts?
A new widget area in the before_footer hook?
Something I’m not aware of?

I would say Sections on the home page with WP Show Posts to display blog posts is the easiest way to go.
