Bug? Insert Before / Insert After Missing from GB Blocks (Solution)
7 replies · Started by Paul on June 2, 2021
I don't know if this is a GP or GB bug or not but I'm posting this in case anyone else is wondering why 'Insert Before' and 'Insert After' might not be showing up in the options menus for GenerateBlocks.

If you use the Block Manager to hide/disable the native WP Paragraph Block from your choice of blocks, the 'Insert Before' and 'Insert After' options will not be available to you, even for GenerateBlocks.
I find 'Insert Before' and 'Insert After' to be very useful, so it would be nice for these options to remain even when the WP Paragraph Block is disabled via the Block Manager. I'm sure many also prefer to use the GB Headline Block over the native WP Paragraph Block and expect the the Paragraph Block is hidden frequently by users, so hopefully support for this will be included in a future update.
Thanks!
Hi Paul,
Unfortunately, this isn't something that GB or GP can control.
It might be a WP bug, if it's really important to you, you should try to reach out to WP support :)
Hi!,
same problem here. Is there a way to solve it?.
Hi there,
thats something that WP controls and it makes sense why those options are removed.
When you select Insert Before or After - WP will insert an empty Paragraph Block. If you have disabled that block, then there won't be a block for it to insert.
More the question - why is the Paragraph Block being disabled ?
Exactly!, I disabled Paragraph block.
Why?, I wanted as few blocks as possible, but apparently I went to far :)
Thanks David.
You're welcome :)
Hi David, I can answer the 'why' question:
To simplify the blocks interface for my clients.
I'd prefer for them to use the GB headline block rather than the native paragraph block, because the GB headline block is so much more flexible. It was in this process of hiding "block clutter" that I ran into the initial problem. But no worries, I now know which native blocks to keep and which to hide to keep the block options as minimal & useful as possible.
Cheers,
Paul
Thanks for letting us know. I would never of thought they would allow that block to be removed :)
