Blog posts don't display CSS formatting on homepage

A subtheme “Mellow” was chosen for this website (https://www.sigridseffner.com/) to accomodate the need for just two boxes of information on a one-pager. Technically it’s not the right solution since the CSS formatting of the blog posts — paragraphs, links, etc. is shown on the home page and I am wondering whether that is normal?
What would be a “quick fix” (without switching to a different template) one could apply here to preserve the visual appearance of the page and enable the display of the CSS formatting as the same time? We like the way the boxes partly overlap the image above.

Hi Anna,
The homepage of Mellow is the Blog page( latest posts).
1. You'll need to create a static page at Dashboard > pages > add new.
2. In this page, create a structure like this:

Set Container A and Container B to 50% in width, make the page full width.
3. Go to settings > reading > Your homepage displays > A static page, choose this page as Homepage.
