Is it possible to automatically show some custom “hero” page with generatepress.

To be more precise i am trying to:

    a) show a “teaser” hero page on the startpage of the blog – which is showing the last blog post there is – so it updates when something new is posted.

    b) on the start/homepage of my website there is a slider (created using wpwsiper plugin – which can simply make a generateblock container slide.
On that slider i want to have 2 slides with news. Lets say it has 4 slides. Slide 1+2 lead to page x and y.
Slide 3 should show the “teaser” hero page linking to the newest post of category cars and slide 4 should show the “teaser” hero page2 of the newest blogpost of category bikes.

Hope you get what i mean. So far i only made a draft where slide 3 simply leads to the news page. But in general this would be what i want those slides/teasers to look like – image, short intro + link/button. The example also still uses another slider plugin – which i replaced with wpswiper which i found out to be working better (current – unfinished – new slider is on the homepage).
Is this possible with gp and gb? I think i saw a video about my question a) some time ago – but can’t find it anymore.

    Hi Matthias,

You’ll need a plugin like WP Show Posts to retrieve the latest Post, and eventually use it as a Page Hero. You can also try retrieving the latest Post through WP Query Block.

Take note that WPSP is set to merge with GenerateBlocks hopefully in a week.

After adding the latest Post, you can then probably use a little CSS to modify the look of the Post.

If you want to place it in the slider, depending on your Slider Plugin, if you can display custom content there, you might be able to add the latest Post there as well. You’ll need to check with the developer of this plugin if this is possible.

Hope this clarifies! If we missed something, kindly let us know. 🙂

thx – thats good timing i guess. Then i’ll just wait for generateblocks update instead to add another plugin.

The slider plugins shouldnt be a problem – so far i could simply use a container with background image, buttons, headings etc. all created with generateblocks and make it slide by copying that main container into a slider of the plugin. It simply makes whatever blocks you put in there slide.
So the custom content should still be controlled by generateblocks.

I ‘ll wait for an update of generateblocks before i try further and then maybe revive this topic.
Will this be Generateblock Version 1.4.3? Or which release should i look for?

    thx for the info.
