Another one of: "Theme from the library does not import correctly"
12 replies · Started by Forrest on August 22, 2021
Hello. I am running GeneratePress, Premium, and GenerateBlocks. Two days ago, I attempted to import the "Streamer" podcast-oriented site template from the GeneratePress Site Library. The import did not occur any where near correctly, when I chose "Demo content" import. No images, and templates appear broken in editor. Please help. I will provide any information requested to GeneratePress staff.
Thank you,

I just took screenshots of the current site, https://mountainhuman.earth, which I haven't changed since the faulty Site Library import.
Where should I send them?
I'm going to revert the site back to the snapshot before, and put the current snapshot on https://dev.mountainhuman.earth
Please instruct
Thanks
Forrest~
GeneratePress starter child theme (no extra code yet)
GeneratePress 2.0.3
GeneratePress 1.3.5
Wordpress 5.8
At Sun, Sug 22, 9:50 am PDT, I went into the site, to the Plugins/GeneratePress Premium/Configure/Site Library, and i was directed to delete the previously imported site template and demo content from 'Streamer' - so I did. Process completed, and for a test I imported the "Pixei" theme -- same problems, wrong page template (?), broken image links, and the "/"/" weird code in each page block. I took another screen shot, i can post it on an image sharing site and attach the URL to this support ticket, i will do that

Hi there,
Can you confirm that you are using the latest theme version and premium plugin version as shown here?
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/generatepress-and-gp-premium/
Are you using a child theme? Can you activate the parent theme and import the site again?
Let me know :)
Hi, Leo, thank you for answering my support ticket.
Here are the version numbers you asked for:
GenerateBlocks: 1.3.5
GeneratePress Premium Plugin: 2.0.3
GeneratePress theme: 3.0.4
GeneratePress Child: 0.1
I just activated GeneratePress, instead of the child theme,
and I will attempt the import from the Site Library of the "Streamer"
podcast-oriented theme in a minute, and I will post the results.
Looking forward to getting this fixed!
Thanks,
Forrest
Well I did what you suggested.
Currently running GeneratePress theme, not the child theme.
I went and fixed my Mailchimp API key, with a new one, as this Site Library theme, "Streamer" uses Mailchimp API.
No dice.
The exact same result as before.
{screenshot taken: here is the image on imagebb: https://ibb.co/mJC86GM}
Btw, yes, I see the Mailchimp for Wordpress plugin error about form with ID 0.
I looked in their forums and this seemed relevant: "https://wordpress.org/support/topic/mailchimp-for-wordpress-error-there-is-no-form-with-id-0-perhaps-it-was-delete-2/"
Note the recommendation from their support team: "I think you should contact the developer of your theme as they are the one who integrate our plugin into your theme for you. I’m not sure how they did that / how it’s meant to work with their custom setup.
Hope that helps. If you have any questions, please let us know!
As this theme uses GenerateBlocks, is the problem with GenerateBlocks?

Hi Forrest,
Did you include a screenshot in the reply? I'm not seeing it. Here's our recommendation on how to include it - https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-the-premium-support-forum/#uploading-screenshots
Can you right-click the import site library page and check the console for errors?
If not, you can provide us temporary backend access so we can help you check things out. :D
You can use the private information text field to provide the site details. Let us know. :)
Elvin, what do you mean: "Did you include a screenshot in the reply?"
I put the link in my reply!!!
~Forrest
P.S: look for {screenshot taken: here is the image on imagebb: https://ibb.co/mJC86GM}
that text is midway in my reply.
P.P.S: I am making a temporary admin login for you. The Wordpress user creation page requires an email. What email for you do i use?

All I saw was {screenshot taken: }
I might've viewed it prior to link inclusion. I'm seeing the link now. Thanks. :)

You can use our private information text field to provide the details. Only official customer support members can view them. :)

ok, Elvin, details in the private field:

Elvin, I made some changes and got a successful result.
I activated WP Show Posts, and deactivated Font Awesome, a "Mountain Helper" plugin from a previous theme, and a "Custom Fonts" plugin from that previous theme as well.
I then imported the Site Template correctly.
I didn't get a look at the console, did you mean the console included with Chrome or Firefox Developer Tools?
Thanks, and continue taking a look, I want to know what conditions ensure a successful GeneratePress Premium Site Template import!
And, to what extend are the pictures in the imported site customizable?
~Forrest

Yes that's the one. That usually gives clues on errors (404, 500, etc). That's usually a good clue as to what's happening.
Sometimes it even points to the offending plugin asset. :D
I've checked the site and I don't see any obvious issues that may prevent you from successfully importing a site again.
But this could change as there are other factors involved. Even when your WordPress installation is untouched, if your site's host changes things(ex. overvigilant security, blocking requests), that may also cause issues.
And, to what extend are the pictures in the imported site customizable?
Are you asking about the registered image sizes?
If so, the theme doesn't mess with this. It leaves the image processing to WordPress core default. :)
If you mean the template added image/background image, you can change them depending on where they're added. (either as an image block or a background image of a Container Block.)
