Allow users to download a Word Doc straight off the website

Hi
I've added 3 word docs to the media library. On the contact page we want to allow users to download those 3 docs.
1) I've added it as text with a link to the document url's - nothing happens
2) I've used this plugin to create a button and link to the doc url: https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/easy-media-download/#description - again nothing happens.
How do I allow for this to happen?
p.s. it should be a simple process.

None of those work.
This isn't a theme related question so all we can do is to point you in the right direction as David did.
That being said, the links did work for me and I was able to download the document:
