after changing theme critical error on website is it GP or at server

I tried to change theme from Marketer, pressed the button saw a slight warning that tempted me to still go ahead then needed site support to recover my website - but the recovered website has had menu gremlins where a custom link changed the names of all the pages under it to the same thing, then the site disappeared, I woke up to see 'website not installed' and a second recovery was done, today I'm getting message on preview changes to a page 'critical error on this website' - so is it something to do with trying to change the theme [though the backup should have got around that, I think the first person actually moved rather than recovered the site] or is it the site support end?
Hi there,
i would speak with your host again as recovering your site should have restored it to a position before you made the change. Perhaps they have an older backup of the site?
