    Hi there,

I’m using poEdit to translate certain strings of a plugin (wpamelia) I’m using. Here’s the thing, so far what I did was to upload said files to wp-content/languages/plugins and it worked! But as soon as I updated the plugin those translations were gone. I’m assuming I should put those files somewhere within my generatepress child theme folder. I tried putting both .po and .mo files in the root folder of the child theme, as well as creating a “languages” folder and putting them inside, but nothing’s working.

My guess is that there must be something missing, should I use any extra code to make the generatepress child folder read and give priority to these .po files? (I’m using poEdit because I really don’t want to mess with Loco Translate)

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there,

I don’t believe plugin translation files can exist in a theme (even a child theme).

The place you originally placed them is the proper place – they shouldn’t have been removed on update as far as I know, as the plugin update shouldn’t affect that folder.

I’ll talk to the plugin’s team then, I thought that maybe it had to do with the child theme.
    thanks Tom!
