Add new Global Element Hero to work with extra pages
1 reply · Started by Tim Zurawski on January 16, 2019
I want to have a global page hero for a number of new pages that all I have to do is change photo and header title and text copy. Trying to Add new Global Element Hero to work with extra pages and assign that hero (call it Extra Page Hero) to some pages to access. Really lost. thank you for your help. (BTW, I am using ZEAL template.
Or save the page layout as a template and assign the template (probably pretty easy, but I need a bit of help doing it)
How do you assign a new page to use a template? And name a page to have it's own unique name (not a template name) (save as page "name")
thank you
Hi there,
If you use the featured image option in header element, then it will use the featured image of the specific page as the background image of the page hero.
Then I believe what you are looking for is template tag feature:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/header-element-template-tags/
You can see an example of using it here:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/page-hero-examples/#example-2
Then when you add more pages, just add them to the Display Rule:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/header-element-overview/#display-rules
If you want them on most of the pages, then you can choo All pages in display rule and use the exclusion if you need.
Let me know if this helps :)
