Add Lightweight Grid Columns Shortcode Button to Text Editor Toolbar

Hi Tom,
I use your Lightweight Grid Columns plugin a lot with the Generate Press Theme. One thing that would make it almost perfect is to add the shortcode button that you have on the visual editor all appear when in the text editor. Some other shortcodes I use, include their shortcode button for both visual and text editing. Most often it sits next to the "Add Media" button.
I do almost all of my input using the text editor, mainly because I often add some extra html coding. If I have html in my content, and switch over to the visual editor to use the Lightweight Grid Columns shortcode button, and then switch back to text, I find my html has been reformated by the visual editor.
I know I can manually type in the shortcode, but eventually I will hand this off to the client who isn't quite as savvy with the editor.
Would this be possible?
Thanks!
Hi Kelly,
I've thought about this, but I'm not a huge fan of sticking buttons up there with the Add Media button.
However, I'll definitely look into it to see if there's a better way to do it while in the text editor :)
Thanks for considering it. It would be super helpful!
Thanks!
As an aside, is it possible to get the right column to float on time of the left column using CSS? Some pages are simply text on the left and photo on the right. In this case, it would be nice to have the photo float on top of the text when it's switched to mobile.
Hi Tom, sorry for the series of emails, but just discovered an issue with the Grid Columns plugin. I'm noticing that when I put my text in, the plugin doesn't wrap my first paragraph in the <p> </p> tags. When I hit the carriage return to start a new paragraph, the new paragraph will be wrapped in the <p> </p> tags. The issue with this is that I don't get the blank line break between my first paragraph and the second. The copy of the second paragraph starts on the very next line below the first.
Example 1: using the Grid Columns Shortcode:
"....I really like this WordPress thing. I could work on it all day.
To get started, you need to get a hosting company, install WordPress on your server and then...."
Example 2: not using the Grid Columns Shortcode:
"....I really like this WordPress thing. I could work on it all day.
To get started, you need to get a hosting company, install WordPress on your server and then...."
I've tried putting in a <br><br>, but no difference. I did a <br clear="all">, but then I loose the paragraph formatting below it.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
This can typically be fixed by making sure the start of the first paragraph isn't touching the opening shortcode: http://www.screencast.com/t/8jJp7icTdi5c
