A major nuisance in Editing text.

When I want to split a paragraph in 2, I hit an enter.
The split happens, but then instead of cutting it often copies, sort of jumping the cut text back to its original position and so I now have it twice.
See screenshot for example.
About 8 of 10 times I do this, this happens.
How to resolve this?
